| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was conducted to clarify the importance of preventing malnutrition in the elderly through both diet and psychological support.A survey of the elderly revealed the existence of elderly people who were not aware of malnutrition and inadequate intake, and also clarified their views on eating habits.According to a survey of food service providers, volunteers who provide meals were required to be highly communicative and able to determine the needs of users for nutritional and psychological support. It is necessary to develop human resources with such qualities.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では低栄養予防には、食品摂取の工夫や調理技術の習得など、栄養摂取に重点を置く食事支援だけでは不十分であり、同時に心理的支援も行う必要があることを証明することができた。この結果は支援者側にとっては高齢者個人を深く理解することに繋がり、高齢者においては健康的な食物選択へと関心を向けてもらうことに繋がると考えられた。高齢者の食行動を改善するためには、高齢者の気持ちを汲み取り、食物摂取と心理面の両面から低栄養予防施策を計画する必要があり、本研究結果はその計画を推進する裏付けとなり、社会的意義があると考えられる。
