Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Cognitive-behavioral therapy, including exposure and response prevention, is effective in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder. However, deficits in cognitive function, comorbid with autism spectrum disorders, and associated executive function dysfunction may affect the therapeutic effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy. As a result of investigating the factors that influence the therapeutic effect of obsessive-compulsive disorder, working memory, which is a part of executive function, and decreased communication ability, which is characteristic of autism spectrum disorder, affected for cognitive-behavioral therapy of obsessive-compulsive disorder. These results may help develop a psychological program focusing on the executive function of obsessive-compulsive disorder comorbid with autism spectrum disorders.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
