| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The following two papers were presented. ① A novelist Morio Kita and manic depressive psychosis；the diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Journal of Pathology 95: 58-74,2018. ② A novelist Morio Kita and manic depressive psychosis;‘Doctor Manbo at Sea’in the early works before first manic episode of bipolar disorder. Shinshu University Library study 8: 57-87, 2019.
In the first report, it is said that the disease name of "manic-depressive" in Kita-Morio corresponds to bipolar I disorder in modern diagnostic criteria and that it has the characteristics of "mixed state" and "rapid cycler". In the second report, there is a mood change even before the 39-year-old who is considered to be a manifestation of onset, and the manic and depression affected the creation of the writing of ‘Doctor Manbo at Sea’ (1960: age 33) .

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
北杜夫の病跡学研究における初の本格的学術論文・原著論文であり、その端緒を論文掲載という具体的な結果として開けた意義は大きい。また精神医学と人文学の領域横断を試みた点においても、「挑戦的萌芽研究」として大きな意義を持つと考える。北杜夫は、昭和を代表する作家のひとりであり、自身の「躁うつ病」を数多くの作品のなかで記述することで、精神疾患の啓蒙に大きく貢献した作家である。よって北杜夫を学術研究の対象として再評価することは、気分障害をはじめとする精神疾患の啓蒙に役立つものであり、社会の精神疾患に対する理解を深める意味でも社会的意義が大きいものと考える。
