Research Abstract |
This research aims at the elucidation of the dissemination process of Marxism literature and database creation centering on the "The Manifesto of the Communist Party"(Marx/Engels) in cooperation with the Socio-Political State Library (RGA/Moscow) and the Berlin = Brandenburg science academy (BBAW/Germany). Investigating the editions of "The Manifesto of the Communist Party" in the possession of RGA, IISG(Amsterdam) and in China, image data and bibliographic data of the printed books were collected and the image database were made. The main results are as follows. (1) The printed books of the "The Manifesto of the Communist Party" published after death of Marx/Engels amount to 101 kinds in the world, and we succeeded in making picture of 80 different editions of them. (2) This collection picture was exhibited by the international conference on the <History of Dissemination and Influence of "The Manifesto of the Communist Party">(December 9, 2007, Tokyo, Rikkyo University). (3) From the RGA, Dr. Fomichov was invited, and we examined the collected data and created the final database. (4) Since the first Japanese translation of "The Manifesto of the Communist Party"(1904) the printed books of the "Manifesto" published in Japan amount to 84 different editions. (5) By analyzing the reception history of "The Manifesto" in China, it was ascertained that the Chinese first translation of "The Manifesto" by Chen Wangdao, referring to the English translation(1886), based on the Japanese translation of Kotoku/Sakai.
