Research Abstract |
We have made our research activities of holding a series of "Academic forum on women in Edo Japan" at some places following bellow. Osaka and Tokushima in 2005, Tottori, Tokyo and Fukuoka in 2006, Kanazawa and Kyoto in 2007.The forums were all edited and printed in the 5 reports. We are convinced we had an achievement of scholarly exchanges and got a lot of valuable resources for women's history research through the forums. Especially the topic of women in Han-society, or Samurai society became one of the new subjects for women's history in the Edo period. Some of us worked and contributed to scholarly exchanges not in Japan, but in the world. Ms. Sawayama and Yabuta reported at the symposium at Rikkyo University, Tokyo, and Ms. Sone did at the symposium held by both Associations for Gender History and for Women's History in Kyoto. Global Scholarly Exchanges between Japanese and foreign scholars were realized at the forums mentioned above. Yabuta also had chances to give a presentation at the conference in U.K. and U.S.A. However our goals were not perfectly accomplished, because a few members unfortunately did not worked hard than expected.
