Research Abstract |
This study was conducted during three years from 2005 to 2007. Japanese companies in China and also in Japan were surveyed on the topic of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and the related areas. The research results were as follows. (1) For developing a SCM system, what elements and what system functions should be regarded as important are clarified according to the conditions. This was analyzed by the several types of SCM models. The elements considered here are customer's allowance of lead time, customer services, position of the push-pull boundary and so on. (2) The differences in characteristics between the opposing concepts, such as "pull system" "push system" and "make-to-order"-"make-to-stock" are analyzed mathematically. For example, from a point of view of propensity-to-stock", in what way the profit can be maximized is one of the themes. (3) From the a number of visiting surveys for Japanese manufacturers in China which are mostly electronics companies including parts manufacturers, we could get the various problems to be solved and the future trends of SCM systems together with the related issues. The surveys are done in Greater Shanghai, Canton province and Dalian.
