Research Abstract |
The main results obtained in this research can be summarized as follows ; 1)Percentage of the lean persons in the women's college students and physical fitness of the lean women's college students In 602 women's college students, percentage of lean persons was 16.4%. On the other hand, percentage of obesity persons was 6.3%. The muscular power (grip strength, back strength, leg power, sit-ups) of lean persons (BMI: below 18.5) was clearly inferior to the person of standard physique (BMI : 20-22). 2)Consciousness of the weight in the lean women's college students The lean women's college students desired weight with less 1.5kg than actual weight. Thus, even if it was the lean persons (BMI : below 18.5), the intention in which they become thin was strong. 3)Influence of a short-term muscular strength training and de-training on bone mass Subjects were twelve women (18 to 20 years old) with low body mass index (the mean value of BMI: 17.4, the range of BMI : 15.9-19.3). The calcaneal bone mass was measured by the ultrasonic measuring device and the measured bone mass was calculated as relative value (%) from 17-old-year women's standard value. The process of the research consisted of control period (12 weeks), training period (9 weeks) and de-training period (24 weeks). As a result, their calcaneal bone mass after the training increased significantly as compared with that of the before training. Their bone mass after de-training decreased significantly as compared with that of the after training. Even if it is a short-term muscular strength training, it is suggested that the suitable strength and quantity of mechanical stress which are given to a bone should be important factors for the increase of a bone mass.
