Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to develop the environmental education programs to promote the clothing life which is considered in the environmental problems. In this study, we focused on 1)the material recycling of the unnecessary textiles, 2)the consumption and recycling of the water absorbing hygiene products, 3)the effective utilization of the ultraviolet ray shelter clothing for healthy clothing life, as the specific subject of the environmental study programs. The following results were obtained : 1)The material recycling of the unnecessary textiles : The recycling methods of bedding and clothing were surveyed for the university students. The necessity of the enlightenment activities about the recycling was suggested. We developed the teaching material and did the class practice about the recycling of textiles for the primary school children. 2)The consumption and the recycling of hygiene products : we evaluated the relation between the material characteristic and the hand quality of paper towel and sanitary pads. It seems that the paper towels made from recycled pulp are likely to have good hand, if their bending and frictional properties can be decreased. 3)The effective utilization of the ultraviolet ray shelter clothing : we surveyed the attitude about the ultraviolet rays for 352 students. They knew an influence over the human body of the harmful ultraviolet rays, but the male students slighted it and the necessity of the environmental study was suggested.. In order to build teaching materials for student activity, the UV-ray shielding properties of various kinds of fabrics were measured by using a potable UV-ray sensor. From observations and experiments using the sensor, the teaching material was created to focus on sun protective clothing. The new teaching material was introduced in junior high school students.
