The magazine reports on the Western music and the opera which are looked at by the general magazine, literary magazine, music magazine, etc. of the periods from 1868 (Meiji first year) to 1945 (at the time of the end of the war) were mainly collected as much as possible in the first year in the research period of two years. An official trip was taken to the Museum of Modern Japanese Literature and Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature in Tokyo, the National Diet Library, etc., also the neighboring library, such as Doshisha University library and Osaka Prefectural main library, the data copy was performed about the possession magazine. Moreover, the table of a modern magazine and acquisition purchased data, such as a difficult main part of a magazine, and a public performance pamphlet in and outside the country, at any time.
The second year, the database creation about an author name, a report name, a printing magazine name, and announcement years was achieved as a table about these magazine reports, and "On the Western music and the opera bibliography list" were created.
Picture preservation of the magazine report itself was carried out by having made this into the index, and it PDF-file-ized about the magazine more than 613 title.
Moreover, it restricted to what has checked the books original also about the Western music and the opera books, and the work arranged as a reference table was continued.
The basic data for attaining the "research purpose" of making it clear from the side of the magazine culture which is full of the variety which supported modern culture in large foot with these about change of the cultural base by the import of the Western music in modernization of Japan were able to be mostly prepared.
