Research Abstract |
1) In order to study the use of telecommunications for foreign language learning with native speakers in distant countries we organized four joint classes between Aichi Prefectural University (Japan) and Barcelona University (Spain) students. Thanks also to the collaboration of Barcelona's professor Mar Cruz, we were successful in our purposes. We concluded that telecommunications are extremely effective for intermediate students. They managed to learn a lot in all stages of the process: class preparation, the class itself, and post-class reflection. We and our Spanish counterpart noticed its great effectiveness regarding self management study. 2) Tukahara and Itoigawa were in charge to collect language samples of the local Spanish in Spain. Head investigator, Hideo Hotta, studied basic, standard Spanish model not biased to a specific region, chiefly about addressing forms usage in Guatemalan Spanish. 3) Itoigawa examined men and women's images in Spanish-Japanese dictionaries and showed students examples of sexism in some definitions and what the problems were. 4) Tukahara made an interactive video to learn Spanish and applied for the First Prize of "Cristobal de Villalon" for the educational innovation in the class of the Spanish as a Foreign Language. He and Hotta prepared and made available on a web site various Spanish e-learning contents such as grammar explanations, verb tables, exercises, audios, etc.
