Research Abstract |
The experiments were administered to find how effective shadowing practice is in learning foreign languagessuch as English as a second language and French as a third language. CALL rooms are used with theintroduction of a new system supporting shadowing practice. The 2005 survey showed some improvement in the proficiency tests of French and German classes withshadowing practice while little progress was observed in English classes. On the other hand, the 2006 surveyindicated there was some advancement in the tests of English classes as well as German and French ones.Furthermore, in English classes there was difference in progress whether the practice was done with the fastspeed or the normal one. Also interestingly, in French classes the difference was seen in the score of the testswith/without the explanation of the content of the practice. Further investigation is needed through the collection of data concerned in order to find out exactly howeffectively shadowing practice works in learning foreign languages.
