Research Abstract |
We gained many insights through this research project. The most significant one is to reconfirm the importance of taking the incentive structure of agents who have policy-related stakes, when designing economic policies. This research report consists of 3 chapters and a supplement. In Chapter 1 "Macroeconomic Effects of Public Debt", we analyzed the macroeconomic effects of public debt, which is expected to be 1.5-times as large as GDP at the end of 2006 fiscal year. In Chapter 2 "The Effects of the Social Medical System Reform on Economic Welfare", we analyzed the welfare effects of the reforms in social health care system that commenced on April 2003. In Chapter 3 " The Effects of Optimal Redistribution Policy on the Competitive Balance and the Quality of Professional Baseball League", we analyzed the effects of redistribution policy, which is designed to maximize the value of the baseball league, on the competitive balance and quality of the league. The supplement paper "Reassessing the Roles of Public Sector in terms of Public Debt Management" is an empirical extension of Chapter 1 in which we implemented quantitative assessment of fiscal policies.
