Research Abstract |
Although a long-term care insurance system was enforced and seven years has passed, care management practice doesn't perform effectively. One of those reasons is that the expertise of care managers is not established. However, since care management practice is conducted with team approach, team training to enhance team performance is necessary. Team training is "a set of tools, methods and content that together create an instructional strategy that focuses on enhancing teamwork" (Salas et al. 2001). According to preceding research about team, individual competencies and team competencies improve team performance. Competencies consist of knowledge, skills and attitudes and team performance is improved by learning competencies through team training. The subject of this research is to develop the teaching materials that explain individual and team competencies in detail. The instructional book of team training is already published. In this book, competencies relevant to "shared mental models" and "decision making" are described especially in detail, because these two competencies are important to the teams in the human care field.
