Research Abstract |
The New Education movement, which reached its peak in the Taisho Era from 1912 to 1926 is sometimes called the Taisho Democracy in education. That movement stood out mainly in three types of schools. The first is the attached elementary school to the normal school such as Akashi women's normal school, Nara higher normal school and Chiba normal school. The second is at private school like Seijo elementary school and Seikei elementary school and the last is at public elementary school. But because of the variety of the schools and these educational reform had become a part of the fascism education, the evaluation of this movement has been so confused. So I tried in this research to find many cases of school reform which had been made before the new education movement at the public schools of Tokyo City. We visited many schools and corrected a lets of materials of these educational reforms. Then I tried to compare these two kinds of reforms and to find the peculiarity of the New Education Movement.
