Research Abstract |
With the exception of the wholly new universities founded in the period 1959-64 'traditional' UK universities, ie those constituted prior 1992, are essentially the product of local enterprise, having teen founded by private benefactors, trusts and endowment of various kinds. University distribution is 'to an extant an accident of history' being the product of historical and legislative circumstances rather than of any overall rational lased on location, distribution through the UK, size or type. Therefore, some knowledge of their history and development is essential to understand the legal framework in which they now operate. In this research an analysis of the legal nature and basis of the British universities were made on the basis of some case studies.
