Research Abstract |
1) In home, parents' consciousness showed the sense of relief offer the appearance of sound detection, and parents used hearing mode consciously before their children enter elementary wheal In the case of the school for the deaf parents used manual sign mainly. But, in the case of mainstreaming into the regular school, they were conscious of their good communication mode. However, the consciousness to hearing was not filly able to maintain them in many cases. In schools, the teacher for the deaf was not strongly consciousness of using auditory mode, and the classroom teacher for the regular school did not consider to auditory information enough. 2) The change of the child (1) Communication mode: In the case of regular school children, they communicated in auditory-oral mode. But, the children who couldn't communicate in auditory-oral mode used sign language together with it. In this case, parents and their child couldn't sufficiently sign language, and they could use only the easy sign

language in daily life. M a result of inadequate communication, child couldn't form the enlarged semantic conception. (2) Auditory information processing In spite of communication mode, the auditory information processing capability was more improved together with postoperative years. We considered that these capabilities had been greatly influenced not only by the state of insertion of electrodes, but by the auditory experience before operation. (3) Linguistic competence In the low grade of the elementary school, children had his ability suitable for age in each domain of reading kanji character, vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension. The performance of the children whose auditory information receptiveness was not enough made little increase as upper age. (4) Speech articulation Early implanted children had been significantly improved their articulation in every year. The articulation was greatly dependent on auditory capability. And individual difference was also large. A part of articulation was distorted and was nasalized in many cases. Instruction of pronunciation was required. Above tendency was as strong as the child in manual communication mode. It is considered that individual difference is so large in any item. And our consciousness surrounding implanted children, significantly relates to postoperative performances. Less
