Research Abstract |
The purposes of this study are to develop a telescope to observe the solar chromspheric velocity fields and to investigate oscillations of solar prominences using the telescope. The telescope consists of time refractors (diameter: 80 nun, focal length: 3640 mm) mounted on an equatorial mount. Each refractor attaches a Ha filter and a CCD camera Since the central wavelength of the path band of the Ha filter depends on the temperature, the intensifies at the line center at the blue wing, and at the red wing of the chromospheric Ha line are able to measured using the three refractors, if the temperatures of the filters are tuned up. The maps of the chromospheric velocity fields are drawn from the data. To examine the quality of the telescope, the relationship between the central wavelength and the temperature of the Ha filters were investigated using the spectrometers of the Mitaka campus of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. Moreover, the irregularity of the path band of the Ha filters was measured using the coelostat and the spectrometer of Kwasan observatory of Kyoto University. As the result, it was shown that the quality of the Ha filters are enough high to measure the solar chromospheric velocity fields. As the first, the Dopplergrams of surges and of arch filament systems were made. Surge is a kind of large jet phenomenon and arch filament system is a region where the dipole magnetic field appears the solar surface. The Dopplergrams show the upward and the downward motions associated with the surge jets and arch filament magnetic fields. Moreover, the temperature of a Sun Spot was measured precisely using the Mercury Transit on the Solar Surface : Although it was difficult to stack enough data for empirical study of oscillations of solar prominences in the term of this project, the investigation will be continued to clarify the physics of the oscillations using the telescope.
