Research Abstract |
THE VISUALIZATION OF THE JET FLOW ISSUING FROM THE FLEXIBLE NOZZLE MADE OF THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE WAS CONDUCTED. THE WATER FLOWING FROM A PUMP INSTALLED IN THE ACRYLIC WATER TANK WITH A SIZE OF 50MM×250MM×200MM FORMS JET BY THE NOZZLE SECTION WHICH CONSISTES OF TWO PICES OF ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE AND ISSUES INTO THE WATER TANK THE VELOCITY OF THE WATER JET WAS CHANGED VARIOUSLY BY CONTROLLING THE REVOLUTION OF THE MOTOR FOR DRIVING. HERE, THE REYNOLDS NUMBER BASED ON THE MAXIMUM WIDTH OF THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE NOZZLE AND THE MAXIMUM FLOW VELOCITY OF THE NOZZLE IS SET TO ABOUT 1,000 TO 3,000 BECAUSE THE MAXIMUM EXTENDING WIDTH OF THE NOZZLE MADE OF THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE IS 10MM AND IT TAKES ABOUT 400 SECOND TO EXTEND AND CONTRACT THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE ON RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES. HERE, IT HAS BEEN ALSO CLARIFIED THAT THE REYNOLDS NUMBER IS NOT SET MORE BECAUSE THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE IS LARGELY AFFECTED BY THE FLOW VELOCTTY. THE VELOCITY MEASUREMENT OF THE JET FLOW ISSUING FROM THE DEFORMING NOZZLE DUE TO THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE WAS CARRIED OUT BY USING PIV METHOD IN SUCH A FLOW FIELD. THEN, BY USING THE OBTAINED VELOCITY SIGNAL, THE DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE TURBULENCE QUANTITIES SUCH AS THE TIME-MEAN VELOCITY, THE TURBULENT INTENSITY, THE REYNOLDS STRESS AND THE VORTICIES WAS CALCULATED. AND THE TURBULENT COHERENT STRUCTURE OF THE JET FLOW ISSUING FROM THE NOZZLE MADE OF THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED IN DETAIL. FURTHEREMORE, THE TIME SERIES ANALSIS OF THE VELOCITY WAS CARRIED OUT BY USING THE TIME SERIES OF VELOCITY SIGNALS WITH EVERY ONE-EIGHTH PERIOD OF THE EXTENDING PERIOD 400 SECOND OF THE ARTIFICIAL MUSCLE.
