Outline of Annual Research Achievements

金ナノ微粒子が示す局在プラズモン共鳴を利用し、水を電子源として空中窒素からアンモニアを高効率に合成するためには、入射光を極めて高い効率で金ナノ微粒子に吸収させることが可能な光アノードの開発が必要不可欠である。前年度までに、可視光の閉じ込め機能を有する酸化チタン逆オパールフォトニック結晶中に局在プラズモン共鳴を示す金ナノ微粒子を担持させた光アノードの作製に成功している。平成30年度はフォトニック結晶のストップバンドモードとプラズモンモードをより強く結合させるため、フォトニック結晶中に担持する金ナノ微粒子のサイズや、空間分布を電気化学的手法を用いて制御する方法論の開発に取り組んだ。作製した酸化チタン逆オパールフォトニック結晶構造をカソードとし、それを塩化金酸を加えた電解質水溶液中に浸漬して電解還元により金ナノ微粒子をフォトニック結晶表面に担持した。定電流電解によって担持した金ナノ微粒子のサイズは数ナノメーターと小さく、局在プラズモンバンドがフォトニック結晶のストップバンドモードよりも短波長側に生じたため十分な強結合状態は得られなかった。大きな金ナノ微粒子を形成させて局在プラズモンモードをより長波長側に出現させるため、パルス電流を用いて電解還元を行ったところ、パルス形状により粒径が10数ナノメーターの金ナノ微粒子が生成し、フォトニック結晶のストップバンドモードとプラズモンモードのより強い強結合状態が形成することを見出した。一方、フォトニック結晶と同様に光閉じ込め効果を有するナノ共振器をn型半導体である酸化チタン薄膜とp型半導体である酸化ニッケル薄膜を接合させ、さらにその接合面に金ナノ微粒子を配置して形成させ、太陽電池構造を作製したところ、照射光波長によって電流の流れる向きが反転するスイッチ現象が現れることも見出し論文として報告した。
