Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have conducted three international comparative studies in four years. By analyzing questionnaire surveys and overseas visits, students might acquire global competences through the brain circulation program in the STEM field, which is a well-prepared pre-learning program, even if it is ultimately a virtual experience. By Incorporating local community learning, curriculum that provides online content to be learned overseas, assignments, presentations, discussions, etc., and co-developing programs with overseas universities, it is possible for students to acquire GC even in online brain circulation programs. In the COVID-19 situation where it is unclear whether face-to-race overseas program can be provided or not, the online brain circulation program that does not involve international movement may be an alternative.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

GCの獲得状況をSTEM分野の卒業生と対象軸としての人文・社会科学の卒業生を対象に日米中の3ヵ国総計4600人以上へのオンライン質問紙調査による大規模国際比較調査の意義が大きい。米国ではSTEM分野のグローバル労働市場での流動化に備えてGCを醸成するためのプログラムが1990年代から始動していたこと、中国では、1990年代から加速的に高等教育の国際化が政策的にも進められた結果、GCの獲得に関する自己評価が高いこと、日本では、1990年代は限定的に威信の高い大学でGCに関係するプログラム等が進展していた事が新たな知見として得られ、本知見はSTEM分野のGC獲得のための基礎資料となる有用性がある。
