Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to clarify ancient casting techniques, 3D digital data of ancient bronze castings were collected with a 3D scanner. A casting simulation was performed to know how the melt metal were poured into mold and solidified.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
鋳造技術は、1000℃以上に熔けた銅合金を型に流し込んで成形する方法であり、熟練した技法が必要な金属加工技術のひとつである。高温でかつ液体の金属を扱う危険でかつ難しい技術を人類は古代より活用しており、紀元前2千年紀には、中国殷周青銅器に代表される複雑精緻な鋳物の製作を可能にした。こうした金属加工技術は、古代の国家が存立、維持、発展していくための鍵となっており、その詳細を明らかにすることで、古代における国家形成の仕組みを明らかにするための重要な手がかりを得ることを可能にする。
