Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では形態が確立した時期の銀河について、銀河の重力場構造を反映する星の空間分布や速度構造が、現在の宇宙に向かってどのように収束してきたのかを観測し、銀河形態が確立した過程を解明するために必要となる、近赤外線から可視光に渡る広波長域での高空間解像度の観測を実現することが目標であり、そのためにすばる望遠鏡に高輝度ファイバーレーザーによるレーザーガイド星と、複数のレーザーガイド星によるトモグラフィー補償光学を実装する研究を行っている。4台のシャックハルトマン波面センサーから構成されるトモグラフィー波面測定ユニットについて、全体構造の組み上げと光学調整を行い、4台による同時の波面測定が行えることを確認した。また、すばる望遠鏡にプロトタイプの波面測定光学系を搭載して、自然星を用いた波面測定の実験を行い、その測定データを用いて、波面推定計算コードの開発を進めた。
レーザーガイド星システムについては、すばる望遠鏡に取り付けた光転送用の光学系によりガイド星の生成実験を行い、様々な方向において十分に明るいレーザーガイド星が生成され、波面測定に用いることができることを確認した。補償光学と可視面分光装置を用いた高空間分解能面分光観測のデータ解析についてもその手法を確認し、面分光観測のデータ解析の環境を整えた。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

当初の想定に反し、波面測定ユニットの最終設計において、4個のレーザーガイド星の位置をモニタする光学系に広い視野が必要になることが判明し、光学系の設計と製作を追加して行う必要が生じた。それに伴い、波面測定ユニットの光学調整を期間を延長して行う必要も生じた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

波面測定ユニットの光学調整は完了し、今後はトモグラフィー推定の計算を実装し、実験室での試験測定を行う。実験室での性能評価を十分に進めた上で、すばる望遠鏡への搭載に向けた輸送を進めていく。
