Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2017年度に引き続き1台のシャックハルトマン波面センサーの光学調整を行った。アライメントテレスコープを用いた光学調整の後、レーザーガイド星の高さ変化を模擬する光学系と組み合わせ、焦点成分の追随によって瞳径の変化が見られないように制御系の実装を行った。波面測定に必要となる画像処理ソフトウェアの実装を行った。また波面センサーの製作結果に基づいて、トモグラフィー波面測定ユニットの焦点調整系の製作を行った。
またレーザーガイド星システムについては、国立天文台ハワイ観測所の美濃和を中心に昨年度から繰り越されたレーザー光源の現地調整作業を進め、実験室において性能が出ていることを確認した。レーザー光源を既存のレーザー送信望遠鏡に導入し、複数のレーザーガイド星を実現するための光学系の設計を完了し、製作に必要な物品の購入を行った。また可変形鏡の更新に必要となる駆動回路系の購入を行った。
準備研究としてハッブル宇宙望遠鏡の高い空間分解能撮像データを用いて赤方偏移1から現在に渡って、円盤銀河内部の星の分布と星形成率の分布の宇宙論的進化について研究を進めた。赤方偏移1から現在の宇宙に渡って観測された円盤銀河内部の星の分布の進化はその期間の星形成率の空間分布を積算することで説明され、形成された星が動径方向に移動するような現象は特に必要ではないことが示唆された。この結果について論文として出版した。また、既存の補償光学を用いた高い空間分解能での活動銀河中心核の観測結果についても論文を出版した。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

2018年度は波面センサーの光学調整の過程において当初想定していたよりも高い精度でのアライメントが必要であることが判明し、光学系の調整手順の見直しなどで計画よりも時間がかかることとなったが、無事に必要な精度での調整を完了し、波面測定について性能評価を行った。並行してトモグラフィー波面測定ユニットに関しても製作を進め、必要な光学素子の製作を行った。レーザーガイド星光源系についてもハワイ観測所において設計と製作が進んでいる。可変系鏡の更新についても駆動回路系を購入し、性能を確認した。準備研究としてハッブル宇宙望遠鏡のデータを用いた研究により成果も得ている。以上により、おおむね順調に進展していると言える。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2020年度には1台のシャックハルトマン波面センサーをすばる望遠鏡に搭載し、実際の星を用いた波面測定実験を行う。同時に、レーザーガイド星生成システムのすばる望遠鏡への実装を行い、空を照射してのレーザーガイド星生成実験を行う。これにより単レーザーガイド星補償光学の更新を完了する。並行して、トモグラフィー波面測定ユニットの全体の機構を完成させ、実験室での駆動および測定の実験を行う。合わせて可変系鏡の更新を進め、2021年度にはトモグラフィー補償光学のすばる望遠鏡への搭載実験を行う。
