Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to find out quite new ferroelectric materials in the framework of two constituent elements. Most of known ferroelectric materials are perovskites with a simple crystal structure, which show superior ferroelectric properties. However, at the present time, most of the researchers' attention is focused on perovskite ferroelectrics and not so many few materials are not discovered compared to the situation in other fields. In this study, I have focused on the ferroelectricity in two binary compound systems of k-Alumina and wurtzite. Potential of these two materials were fully discussed based on experimental and theory.

本研究を3年に渉って精力的に実施した結果、非ペロブスカイト型化合物の持つ潜在力を十分に詳らかにすることができた。物質研究は数ある物質の持つ多様性を認識することから始まり、既知物質や既知構造に関する帰納と演繹により新物質にたどり着くことができる。本研究では、強誘電性を示すのに最低限の構成元素で成り立つ物質を見直す事により、新しい強誘電性発現の機構を研究者に対して提示することができた。
