Outline of Annual Research Achievements

有機分子の励起三重項状態は、マイクロ秒からミリ秒オーダーの比較的長い励起寿命を有し、また磁性を発現するなどのユニークな性質を有することが知られている。近年、これら励起三重項状態の特徴を活かした研究として、① 三重項-三重項消滅に基づくフォトン・アップコンバージョン (TTA-UC)、 および ② 励起三重項状態を利用した動的核偏極法 (triplet-DNP) が注目されている。これらの研究においては、疎水性の π 共役系発色団分子を対象として、有機溶媒や固体中における基本特性が調べられてきた。一方、これらの方法論を生体イメージングや生体分子の構造解析などへ応用するために、水系への展開が求められている。
本研究では、これら励起三重項状態の示す TTA-UC、ならびに triplet-DNP 現象を水系において実現すべく水分散性を有する π 共役系発色団分子を新たに設計・合成するとともに、それらの水系における分散特性とTTA-UC、triplet-DNP特性を明らかにすることを目指した。
