Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、戦争体験の普遍化が持つ力学を解明するため、アメリカにおける「ヒロシマ・ ナガサキ」の諸相を探ることを目的としていた。
平成31年（令和元年）度は、以下の四点について研究を実施した。（１）広島における普遍主義の現在を探る調査を実施した。本研究の土台には、広島において原爆の災禍が「普遍化」されてきた歴史がある。そこで、本年度はリニューアルされた広島平和記念資料館の展示について検討した。（２）アメリカにおける「ヒロシマ・ナガサキ」を探るため、前年度に引き続き、ハワイにて調査を行った。そこでは、日本の真珠湾攻撃や太平洋戦争の記憶についてアリゾナ記念館などを中心に探るとともに、ハワイにいる原爆被爆者に関する資料を収集した。（３）暴力の経験のもう一つの普遍化について比較検討するため、アウシュビッツ=ビルケナウ博物館の調査を実施した。広島・長崎の原爆投下と並んで（あるいはそれ以上に）世界的に普遍的な価値を持つ出来事として語られることとして、ナチスによるホロコーストが挙げられる。ホロコーストが現地でどのように語られているのかを探るため、ポーランドのアウシュビッツ＝ビルケナウ博物館を訪れ、その表象について調べた。（４）これまでの成果について発表を行った。アメリカに住む原爆被爆者のオーラル・ヒストリーや彼らの運動の概要について国内学会で発表したことに加え、アメリカにおける「ヒロシマ・ナガサキ」について同国での追悼記念行事を事例として「普遍化」をめぐる力学について論文を執筆・発表した。
