Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本申請課題では、中国の黄土高原の外来種ニセアカシア林を在来種リョウトウナラ林へと転換するために、植物とって重要な栄養塩である窒素の動態およびリョウトウナラが窒素の獲得を依存する外生菌根菌に着目して研究を行った。具体的な研究課題は、(1)ニセアカシア林とリョウトウナラ林の窒素循環メカニズムの解明、(2)リョウトウナラによる外生菌根菌を介した窒素の獲得過程の解明、(3)1・2の研究から得られる情報を基に提案されるリョウトウナラの植栽方法のフィールドでの実践による有効性検証、である。

当該年度では、これまで得られた結果を論文としてとりまとめる作業を中心に行った。課題1に関連して、ニセアカシア林とリョウトウナラ林ではアンモニア酸化菌の量およびアンモニア酸化菌が駆動する硝化過程に大きな違いがあることが明らかとなった。さらに、その違いは土壌含水率やpH、養分量ではなく、外生菌根菌の有無に起因することが示唆された(Tatsumi et al. 2020 Ecology)。加えて、黄土高原の森林の土壌窒素循環は、優占樹種だけではなく乾燥傾度にも影響を受けることが明らかとなり、特に、ニセアカシア林では窒素の形態変化過程の全ての段階が乾燥度に制限を受けることが明らかとなった(Tatsumi et al. 2019 Biogeochemistry)。また、課題2に関連して、植物の共生する菌根菌群集、および菌根菌への窒素獲得の依存度が、土壌の窒素動態を反映して変化することが明らかとなった。その結果をとりまとめた論文は、現在学術雑誌にて査読中である。さらに、課題3に関連して、リョウトウナラ実生に菌根菌を接種させ、ニセアカシア林で育成すると、葉の窒素濃度や成長量が改善されることが明らかとなった。その結果についての論文は現在執筆中である。
