Outline of Final Research Achievements

Mud pulse telemetry is widely used in "measurement while drilling (MWD)" systems to transmit signal from the bottom hole to the ground. In this study, we propose a signal processing method, which is based on time series modeling and the maximum likelihood principle, to enhance the transmission capacity via the multiple modulators. We show using a simulation that our method outperform the conventional correlation-based method in the transmission capacity.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
