Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we investigated the effects of acetylcholinergic pestcides, particularly neonicotinoid pesticides, on the induction of host defense reaction and functions of macrophages and T cells. We showed that acetamiprid modulated the function of alveolar macrophages. Briefly, acetamiprid inhibited the levels of inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression and phagocytosis induced by imiquimod, a ligand of TLR7, in alveolar macrophages, while acetamiprid exhibited little effect on the induction of host defense reaction including HO-1 expression and autophagy. Moreover, acetamiprid did not affect T-cell activation. These results suggested the possibility that acetamiprid could influence the host defense reaction in the lung.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
