| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research, based on the results of the applicant’s research thus far, the issue of how French comics have been studied in French-speaking countries is discussed, including semiotics, narratives, cinematography, psychoanalysis, and sociology. Furthermore, by studying French comics research from important viewpoints, such as adaptation and the Holocaust, and by clarifying key points and reconstructing various changes in French comics theory, this research attempts to clarify the importance of French comics theory in manga research and French literature research. As a result, I wrote and published two papers titled “The Holocaust and Comics” and “French Comics and Adaptation.”

本申請によるバンド・デシネ理論の変遷の研究は、マンガの大衆文化としての魅力や芸術性についてフランス語圏の研究者がどのように取り組み、真摯な探究を積み重ねてきたのかを明らかにするだけでなく、日本のマンガ学やフランス文学研究にも寄与することが期待できる。というのも、フランス語圏の人文科学においては、良き伝統として理論を徹底的に構築し、分析の道具とすることに重きを置く傾向があるからである。また、本研究で得られた知見は、マンガや文学だけでなく、映画やアニメーションといったポピュラー・カルチャー全般にも応用可能であり、さまざまなフィールドにとって有効な成果をあげることができると考えられる。
