Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to clarify how people were aware of the "Japanese language" in the early Meiji period, when the Chinese reading style prevailed, this study took several "Bibles" translated under the influence of Chinese translations of the Bible and investigated how "easy Japanese" such as the Chinese reading system and slang of the time were included in them. By comparing them with the Chinese reading of the translated novels of the early Meiji period, I have clarified the formation process of the "Japanese language consciousness" of the time.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
