Outline of Final Research Achievements

Using the newly developed “HIV/AIDS Outpatient Care Support Process Ver. 2,” an online training course (2 days, 6 hours in total) was held for 18 nurses in charge of HIV/AIDS at an AIDS treatment base hospital, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on three aspects: knowledge, feelings, and behavior at six time points until two years after the training course. The results showed that the knowledge acquired in the training was maintained until 2 years later. Emotions tended to decrease after one year, but increased again after 18 months, and those who decreased were divided into those who increased and those who decreased. The presence or absence of a successful experience had an impact, and those who decreased were further influenced by the dilemma of not being involved in HIV/AIDS outpatient nursing. Based on interviews with the subjects about their learning, Ver. 2 was considered to be effective in helping them recognize their role as outpatient nurses.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
