| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To deepen understanding of the “embodiment” of atopic dermatitis, 14 subjects were presented, including “Itching and rashes first occur internally, then the symptoms appear on the skin surface and spread all over the body”; and “Feeling self-conscious about people staring at your skin lesions.” Moreover, the new problems arising from the “change of embodiment” were discussed, including “Patients are forced to adjust their daily lives due to fixation on the symptoms,” and “Patients wear specific skin-covering materials to prevent their way of life from being hampered by their skin condition, and allowing them to lead a positive life,” with reference to a particular case. It was revealed that these two problems were recognized at the onset of worsening, and experienced at the early stage of the symptoms.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
今回、重症には至っていなかった1例における身体性を明らかにすることで、皮膚の機能障害からではない身体性の変化を見出すことができた。特に青年期から成人期にかかる時期には、健康及び生活管理の主体が親から自分自身になることに伴い、生活習慣やリズムの乱れがアトピー性皮膚炎の症状と一体化して体験が累積することが見えてきた。
また「自分だけはみ出せない」など、身体性の維持よりも周囲と合わせた行動を取ることが優先されていくなどの療養過程は、成人の再発時期におけるアトピー性皮膚炎看護のアプローチの示唆となり得ると考えられた。
