| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The main purpose of this study is to "reorganize the history of literature and culture from a different perspective by reconsidering the mysterious literary arts of the modern age from the relationship with scholarship, thought, and religion and reading them historically." It was an attempt to reconsider the cultural history including related fields by reading the modern mysterious literary arts from a different perspective.
Focusing on the 18th and 19th centuries, he demonstrated the relationship between mysterious literary arts and the above-mentioned fields with concrete materials. Furthermore, focusing on the mysterious literary works during the transition from the early modern period to the Meiji period, we conducted research and introduced and released them to the general public.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
18・19世紀を中心とした怪異文芸と学問・思想・宗教との関連を具体的に検証し、明らかにした。
これまでの文学研究においては、ほぼ等閑視されてきた石門心学関係の資料を収集・整理し、山東京伝の作品や怪異文芸に通ずる表現や思想が認められることを具体的に明らかにした。また、近世期から明治期へと継承される説話の展開を追究して、時代思潮の一端を明らかにした。
研究成果の社会還元の一部として、著名な江戸怪談の注釈や現代語訳、解説などを一般に向けて公開した。
