Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We bring archival time-series data of M31 (from 1m, 2m 4m to 8m telescopes) into a coherence picture by providing high-quality light curve with difference imaging analysis, augmented with multi-wavelength deep imaging from UV, optical to near and mid-IR. This data-set can render M31 as a distance anchor, to study the end stage of massive stars, to provide a census of SNe Ia progenitor through single degenerate channel. In addition, this data-set also serves a basis to develop light curve classification algorithms that will be employed in the future time-domain surveys, such as Zwicky Transient Factory and Large Synoptic Survey Telescope.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
M31 provides unique leverage to stellar evolution, star formation, galaxy evolution, and cosmology. We re-process time-series M31 imaging in 1999-2016 and augment the light curves with UV to IR imaging. This data-set will serve the basis to digest big data with ZTF and LSST.
