Outline of Final Research Achievements

Mitochondrial dynamics in cardiomyocytes are emerging as fundamental biological processes important for controlling not only mitochondrial shape, but also function, which can play a key role in modulating cell survival. However, the full contribution of mitochondrial dynamics to cardiac physiology and function remains poorly understood.
In the present study, we examined the cardioprotective efficacy of volatile anesthetic, isoflurane, treatment and improvement of mitochondrial function in the setting of ischemia/reperfusion.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
