| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The present study aimed to examine the effect of self-efficacy(SE) education on the symptoms of mutism. Participants were ten person with Selective Mutism. (1)Motivation for participation, (2)specific SE (expectation to the improvement of mutism), (3)general SE (SE as the tendency to common personal behavior), and (4)symptoms of mutism were measured.
A correlation was found in motivation for participation and specific SE. Specific SE improved in six of ten participants. In the participant whom the symptoms of mutism reduced, the score of SE improved. Results suggested that psychological education to improve self-efficacy were effective for person with Selective Mutism.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
場面緘黙当事者の中には、治療への参加が消極的であり本人の協力が得られにくいケースがある。本研究では、治療への参加意欲を高めるための心理教育教材を作成するとともに、10名の場面緘黙当事者に対して心理教育を行い、その効果を検証した。その結果、対象とした10名全員に緘黙症状の改善や改善傾向が認められた。また緘黙症状の改善が大きい者の方が「緘黙症状が改善することへの期待」の上昇率が高いことが分かった。このことから、「緘黙症状が改善することへの期待」を高めることは、治療への参加意欲を高めるのに有効である可能性が示された。
