Research Abstract |
高温超伝導体は超伝導を担う平面的に配列したCuO_2層が積層した結晶構造を持ち、面間は超伝導の結合が弱く、原子レベルで高密度に積層した多重ジョセフソン接合系を形成している。高品質単結晶Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O^(8+δ)を育成し、CuO_2面に垂直に直流電流を流すことにより、強力で連続かつコヒーレントなテラヘルツ帯の電磁波を発生することに成功した。これはレーザー発振と同等であり、今後、基礎研究はもとより医療診断、セキュリティなど幅広い応用が期待される。
