Research Abstract

チリ南部の南緯33度から54度までの地域で、白亜紀後期から中新世の植物化石の採集調査を行い、鉱化ゴミ化石群という新たな概念の化石群集を含む良質の化石植物群を発見した。産出時代決定に当該地域では初めて渦鞭毛藻類による生層序区分を試み、有望な成果を得た。化石の解析から、第三紀初期のフロラが温暖な要素を含み、同時代の南極との植物地理学的関連が確認された。鉱化ゴミ化石の高解像度X線CTという新手法も試みた。
