Research Abstract

19世紀アメリカの禁酒小説と家庭小説に見られる感傷主義に着目し分析を進めた。とりわけ禁酒小説に関しては、その代表的作品ともいえるT・S・アーサーの『酒場での十夜』の翻訳を解説とともに出版できたことは意義深い。また、「涙する少女」のモチーフを通して、禁酒小説と家庭小説に共通する特質を抽出し、その成果を口頭発表や講演で発表、さらには論文や啓蒙的文章という形で公刊しえたことは大きな成果だと自負している。
