Research Abstract

現在までに出版されている分離独立文学テクスト、関連する映画・テレビドラマ、民謡などを網羅的に収集し、分析し、分離独立文学の全体像を把握した。これにより、分離独立文学が、インド英語文学全体の中において極めて重要な位置を占めることを確認し、インド英語文学の体系的把握に向けた第一歩を踏み出すことができた。また、分離独立文学研究書を網羅的に収集し、研究史の整理、および研究動向の分析・評価を行なった。同課題に関連するインドの研究者や、同テーマを素材とする映画監督との意見交換、および分離独立体験者の家族からの聞き取り調査などを行い、課題に関する総合的理解を深めた。また、分離独立に関する最新の歴史研究を検討し、争点を検討し、従来の見解がどのように変更されているかを確認した。分離独立文学は女性と社会的弱者に甚大な被害をもたらすことになったため、ジェンダー研究の視点から分離独立文学研究の深化を図った。暴力の被害者としての女性というイメージを反復するテクストとは異なる、宗教紛争を超克するジェンダーの視点をもつヴィジョンが提示されているテクストの存在を探ることにより、分離独立をめぐる多様な視点を浮き彫りにした。
