Research Abstract |
The influence of Malcolm X and of the faith of Islam has had an impact on the street culture such as rap. On the other hand, the influence of African American long sustaining folk religion and oral tradition is even greater. Thus, this study clarifies the following three points : (1) The legacy of the Civil Rights movement and Black Power movement observed in the culture of the Hip Hop generation, (2) The continuity of African American oral tradition and Music culture from slavery times to the present, (3) African American oral tradition formulas. The close examinations of these topics are left for the next term of study period.
