Research Abstract |
Based on a hypothesis that social work education consists of four structural parts : (1) experiences, (2) commonalities between social and care works, (3) introductory lessons in social work, and (4) expertise of social work, our first purpose is to clarify what was learned in (2) and (3). In our study, the care workers included certified care workers as well as child nurses. The second purpose is to clarify factors affecting satisfying fieldworks in social work. Therefore, we conducted questionnaire and interview surveys with 524 and 13 participants, respectively. The questionnaire survey was analyzed with categorizing the participants into five groups : who finished only social worker course (a), care worker course (b), or child nursing course (c), both social worker and care worker courses (d), and both social worker and child nursing courses (e). The first survey revealed : ・ In (2), there were no difference in average scores between a-b-and c-groups in ten survey items (ex. communication styles). ・ In (3), a-group had higher average score than that of b-and c-groups in nine items (ex. Social resource utilization). ・ In care workers, a-group also had higher average score than b-and c-groups in three items (ex. ethical sense as a specialist). ・ Comparison between a-, d- and e-groups revealed that some shortcomings in c-group were not overcome. ・ The interview survey concluded that some shortcomings in c-group had tendency to be conquered in some degree. The second survey revealed : ・ Factors affecting satisfying fieldworks in social work were some contents and supervision of the fieldwork. ・ The supervision given by instructors had direct impact. ・ Supervision by University faculties may influence indirectly by affecting the instructors' supervision.
