Research Abstract

九州及び山陰地域から採取した花崗岩の風化プロファイルを鉱物学的・化学的に分析した結果、25億年の花崗岩の風化と多くの類似性が見られることがわかった。具体的には風化の初期段階におけるアパタイトの分解とP(リン)の溶脱、希土類元素を含む多くの元素の挙動の類似性である。現世の風化プロセスには微生物活動が密接に関わっているとされており、特にリンや希土類元素の挙動の類似性は25 億年前の地表における生物活動との関連から興味深い。風化プロファイルから微生物を単離・同定したが、今後は直接バイオタイトまたはアパタイトから単離・同定しその分解と微生物との関わりを探る予定である。
