Research Abstract

本研究の目的は、「地方政府間の相互依存関係」を実証的に明らかにすることである。大きく分けて、二つの検証に分類することができる。具体的には、第一の検証は、県レベルと市レベルの「垂直的」な相互依存関係の帰結を明らかにすることである。第二の検証は、合併団体と未合併団体の「水平的」な相互依存関係の帰結を明らかにすることである。
実証研究の結果、後者の水平的な相互依存関係については存在する可能性が確認され、未合併団体は国からの財政支援を受けた合併団体に触発され、未合併団体では自立に向けた財政行動が生じている。ただし、今後、更なる緻密な計量手法の積み重ねによって、その頑健性の確認に努める必要はある。
