マルチンサイト変態の無双晶化による形状記憶合金の高出力・極低損失化

Research Abstract

本年度は形状記憶合金における内部摩擦の具体的な結晶学的機構を明らかとして力学的エネルギーの損失を制御するための指針を得るべく,マルテンサイト相が理論上無双晶となるTi-24mol%Nb-3mol%Al合金に,極めて強い再結晶集合組織を発達させて単結晶的試料を作製し,動的熱機械測定(DMA)によって123K〜423Kの温度範囲で減衰挙動を測定した.その結果,2つの内部摩擦(tanδ)ピークが現れることがわかった.一つはよく知られたマルテンサイト変態時の内部摩擦であり,応力振幅・周波数および負荷方位に大きく依存した.このピークに対して応力振幅σ_oとマルテンサイト変態歪み(理論値)ε_Mの積U(力学的相互作用エネルギーの指標)とtanδは比例関係にあることを新たに見いだした.
もう一方のtanδピークはマルテンサイト状態である約150K付近で出現し,顕著な応力振幅・周波数・負荷方位依存性を示した. tanδピーク温度の周波数依存性から見積もった活性化エネルギーは約0.5eVであり,水素などの不純物元素の拡散とは別の内部摩擦が生じていることがわかった.さらにtanδピーク高さはUに比例すること,ピークが現れる閥応力が存在することが新たに明らかとなった.閾応力は引張試験から得られたマルテンサイトドメインの再配列応力と良く一致し,双晶変形のシュミット因子によって整理された.これらのことからマルテンサイト状態でのtanδピークはマルテンサイトドメインの双晶変形による再配列に起因し,集合組織を有した材料を作製して非弾性歪み(変態・双晶歪み)と外力の相互作用エネルギーの観点から負荷方位を適切に選べば,2つの内部摩擦ピークの値を制御可能なことがわかった.この様に,βチタン形状記憶合金の内部摩擦ピークの発生機構およびその制御指針を明らかとしたことが本年度における成果である.
