Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2020年度、外国人特別研究員のRajesh KUMAR博士は、当初6月までの研究期間を予定していたが、コロナ感染症の影響で、「採用期間終了後の本邦滞在延長手続き」を行って本研究を2020年7月29日まで継続した。同氏は、無事帰国し、現在Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpurで、Ramanujan Fellowとして活躍している。
当研究室では、還元型酸化グラフェン(rGO)の大量合成手順を確立し、それを標準作業手順書としてまとめると共に、rGOの様々な応用展開を進めた。合成したrGOは、XRD回折パターンにおいて12°付近に鋭いピークを有し、電子顕微鏡観察の結果ナノシート形態を有することを確認している。これを無機フィラーとしてポリベンゾイミダゾール(PBI)に添加したコンポジット電解質膜シートを用いた中温無加湿燃料電池の発電特性評価を行った。rGOの添加量が2wt%、リン酸ドープレベル(PADL)が8.0mol、白金(Pt)触媒使用量0.5mg/cm2とした場合には、無加湿条件下150℃で発電し、連続発電8~34時間の範囲で、時間の経過と共に、最大出力は120~264mW/cm2まで増大した。さらに、作動温度を160℃とした場合には、最大出力は~420mW/cm2まで増大する有望な結果を得た。しかしながら、170℃では、出力、連続発電特性共に、大きく低下することも明らかとなった。これらの研究成果を当該分野の波及効果の大きなJournalに学術論文として公表するために、現在も継続的に検討を進めている。また、得られた研究成果の原著論文としての公表はもとより、関連材料分野の調査を行い、国際共著のレビュー論文として、Materials Today (IF=26.416)に、Heteroatom doped graphene engineering for energy storage and conversion(Review)を公表することができた。新しい取り組みとして、rGOを用いた電磁波遮蔽材料やレーザパターニングの検討を終えた。
