Outline of Annual Research Achievements

磁性ナノ粒子を用いた医療バイオ応用に関する研究が盛んに行われている。その中に、癌などの疾病領域を高感度・高分解能に検出する磁気粒子イメージング、および磁性ナノ粒子のヒステリシス損による熱により、癌細胞のみを選択的に死滅させる磁気的ハイパーサーミア、磁性ナノ粒子の磁化特性の温度依存性を利用した体内温度推定などがある。これらの実現のためには、高検出感度化、選択的に癌細胞だけを死滅させるための高効率化、温度推定の高感度化が必要不可欠である。
これまでは、MRIの造影剤として世界で唯一体内使用が認可されている磁気ナノ粒子であるResovistの他にもともと物理粒径が均一である磁気ナノ粒子サンプルの磁気分画実験を行い、オリジナルサンプルと得られる分画磁気ナノ粒子サンプルの関係を明らかにした。また、磁性ナノ粒子を医療応用する場合、磁性ナノ粒子の周辺温度や、粘度によって磁性ナノ粒子の磁化特性が一般的には変化することが知られているが、これらのパラメータが磁化特性に及ぼす影響を定量的に調べてきた。
本年度は、磁性ナノ粒子が特定のターゲットと結合したかの有無を識別するという新たな磁性ナノ粒子のバイオ応用への展開を想定し、液相・固相磁性ナノ粒子サンプルの磁化挙動の違いのメカニズムを明らかにするとともに、実際の応用のために必要な磁性ナノ粒子の条件、励起磁界強度・周波数の条件などを明らかにした。
それぞれのバイオ応用において磁性ナノ粒子の最適化を行うことが、高感度・高性能化・高機能化に大きく寄与することを明らかにした。
