| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This KAKEN Project is focusing on 14th century (late Kamakura, Nanbokucho, and early Muromachi Periods) Japanese Yamato-e Paintings, such as Emaki, Portrait, Buddhist Paintings. We examined these paintings thorough establishing the IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) viewer system. Our results has been published in Akira Takagishi "Reflections on medieval Yamato-e,”and other books, and several exhibitions held in Japanese museums.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
従来の日本美術史は、たとえば平安末期や桃山時代を盛期ととらえ、それ以外の時期については谷間の時期と捉える見方が主流であった。本研究では、日本中世（12世紀～16世紀）のちょうど真ん中に位置し、鎌倉・南北朝・室町と政権が転変した14世紀を絵画の側面から再度捉えなおし、この時代に特有の様式の複層性、政権の移行に伴う絵師組織の変容を俯瞰的に把握することができた。また、IIIFを活用した画像比較システムの開発は、将来の美術史学における研究の効率化に大きく寄与するものである。
