Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is intended to clarify the world historical position and the historical significance of the Japanese military "comfort woman" system from the viewpoint of the relations between the armed forces and sex trade/sexual violence by making international comparison with the imperialism countries from the 19th to the 20th century. To achieve such purpose, we have dealt with the Western countries and Korea including the United States and the U.K, in addition to Japan and Okinawa. We have collected related studies and documents of each country. At the same time, we have conducted research at the National Archives in the United States and the U.K. and made investigations in Japan including Okinawa. As a result, we think that we were able to demonstrate the world historical position of the Japanese military "comfort woman" system to some extent through analyzing those works and documents.
