Outline of Annual Research Achievements

近年、従来型コンピュータの高速化が限界を迎えつつある中で、新しいパラダイムにより超高速計算を可能にする量子計算機の実現が切望されている。最近、特に集積化に有利とされるシリコン(Si)基板の量子ドットデバイスで高性能な電子スピン量子ビットが実現され、量子計算機実現に向けた機運が高まっている。しかしながら現実の量子ビットには必ずエラーが伴うため、このエラーを検出し訂正する回路の実現が必要である。本課題では、この量子エラー訂正回路を実装する上で必須とされるフィードフォワード制御技術の基盤を確立することを目標としている。

2021年度は、従来のGaAsに比べて高性能なSi電子スピン量子ビットに適用できるよう改良したフィードバック制御システムを利用して、磁気雑音・電気雑音の抑制による位相コヒーレンスの改善及び、量子ビットのアクティブリセット(初期化)の実証実験を進めた。従来のGaAsでは核スピンに由来する極低周波の磁気雑音が支配的であったが、Siではこの効果が低減されることにより電気雑音の効果が相対的に大きい。また、特に2ビットゲート操作時に電気雑音の影響が顕著となることに着目し、フィードバック制御によって2ビット操作時のコヒーレンスを改善することを試みた。当初の狙い通りコヒーレンス時間の一定程度の改善を確認することができたが、その程度は試料の雑音特性や電圧条件に拠るところが大きいことがわかった。またアクティブリセットについても実験を完了し、プロトコルが正常に動作することを確認することができた。現在、これらの実験データの解析と取りまとめを進めている。

Reason

実験は当初の計画通りに進捗し、一連の実験結果を得ることができた。ただし実験の過程で量子ビットの雑音特性を調べる中で、当初予期しなかった量子ビット間の相関が明らかになった。これらの注意深い解析が必要となったため当初の計画から一部を変更して着手することとなったが、全体として概ね順調に進捗しているといえる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究の進捗に伴い、予期しなかった雑音の相関や従来の期待を上回る量子ビットの高忠実度制御方法が解明されてきた。これらの結果を踏まえ、フィードバック制御に求められる性能や役割も変化していくことになるため、それらを見極めながら長期的な目標を随時再検討していく。
